Sales assistant fined RM55,000 for possessing fake branded shoes in Melaka


MELAKA: A sales assistant was fined RM55,000 by the Sessions Court in Ayer Keroh here for possessing more than 4,000 pairs of fake branded shoes.

Loke Yee Fei, 36, pleaded guilty after the charge was read to him before judge Nariman Badruddin on Friday (Sept 2).

The court also ordered the accused to serve five months in jail if he failed to pay the fine.

Based on the charge sheet, the accused was in possession of 4,277 pairs of counterfeit branded shoes at a premises at Jalan Nangka 3, Taman Rumpun Bahagia, Melaka, at 4.30pm on March 31.

The accused, who traded online, was charged under Section 102(1)(C) of the Trade Descriptions (Amendment) Act 2019.

The accused was represented by counsel Kent Tan Chow Teng.
